Ferrum College Forum Takes Center Stage

Here at Access we try to keep politics and work separate. We believe in our clients and enjoy helping them accomplish their goals, politics aside, although sometimes the goals of our clients necessarily become bedfellows with politics.

One particularly enjoyable nexus was the Ferrum College Forum for Critical thinking at the Hotel Roanoke. The event was held April 18 at the Hotel Roanoke and featured an all-star lineup of speakers including Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Roanoke County), Rep. Robert Hurt (R-Pittsylvania County), as well as Dr. Joe Minarik, Dr. Paul Posher and Dr. Marvin Phaup tackling a subject no less daunting than the impending financial crisis in the US.

I doubt Todd, Rachel, and Laura came out with any marching orders on what exactly they can do to solve the problem of a massive and worsening national debt, but Access was pleased to be a sponsor in this discussion. As near as we could figure, it's really bad, but it could be worse and if everyone would quit putzing around and pointing fingers and instead work together to do something about it, it's not too late to fix it. You can quote us on that.

Sometimes in the day-to-day bustle of deadlines, meetings and returning emails, it is easy to lose track of the fact that our clients are doing amazing things. We are constantly inspired by the global successes of clients like OCC and TMEIC, the legal achievements of our friends at Gentry Locke and the strides in healthcare and wellness that are being realized thanks to the efforts of our medical clients. The intellectual efforts of clients including Ferrum, Marshall University, Virginia Western, Roanoke Regional Forum, and the Rule of Law are different in nature, but the discourse is critical to calling attention to problems in our world while keeping our community a mentally stimulating place to live.

We want to congratulate our friends at Ferrum for a successful Forum on Critical Thinking. It was more than an event. It's one of the things that makes our community great.
